Organ Donation Week spurs people into action

10 September 2017

Organ Donation Week took place Monday 4th – Sunday 10th September and what a week it was! We saw some amazing media coverage, including appearances from Assistant Director for Organ Donation, Anthony Clarkson on a number of national and regional TV news and radio programmes. Our social media channels also saw lots of activity with supporters, charities and organisations, partners, celebrities sharing our posts and videos.

On Wednesday 6th September we held a parliamentary event in Westminster in partnership with Kidney Care UK. The event was attended by sixty MPs, including Health Minister, Jackie Doyle-Price MP, and attendees were encouraged to take their messages of support for organ donation back to their constituencies. The Health Minister also visited St George’s Hospital in Tooting during the week.

A vast number of promotional events took place all around the UK. People were encouraged to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register and to talk about organ donation with their families.

We know hundreds of people and organisations all across the country contributed to the campaign, helping to make it a success. We would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who helped in any way.

It’s not too late to help promote organ donation. For more information on how to support, run an event, or even launch your own campaign please visit our Promoting Donation Hub.
